Andrew and I were so excited to take Ellie to the State of Fair of Texas this year! His schedule had two days off during the week, the perfect time to go! We planned it all out and couldn't wait to see what Ellie thought of the whole thing! Sadly, our family that we were planning to stay with ended up getting sick :( So, we didn't think the trip was worth the risk. Turns out, Big Tex had big plans for the day we had planned to go! Big Tex (the ICON of the State Fair) caught fire!!!

I can't imagine the panic I would have felt having my baby girl in a large crowd involving a fire! God took care of us, and made it so that we needed to stay home!
And, He blessed us with a perfect family day! We started the day with a trip to the Zoo. Ellie loves the zoo and asks to go all the time! She will say, "Zoo. El-phants. Giraffes. Okay, les-go!" At almost every animal we saw, she would ask for the elephants and the giraffes! No favorites here, haha!!

We finally found the giraffes!

She loves this music thing, but she doesn't weigh enough to make it work by herself. So, Daddy came to her rescue!
On our way home, something quite huge happened! Ellie fell asleep in her car seat (which we had turned forward facing two days prior to our trip). Ellie has not fallen asleep in her car seat in months....and months...and months. To be honest, she has hardly EVER slept in the car at all!! We were in shock! We couldn't believe she fell asleep! She looked so sweet, our precious sleeping baby!

Notice "froggie"...he goes everywhere and does everything with us
After nap, we had to make a quick trip to the doctor (story for another time) and then ran a few errands. We treated ourselves to Chick-Fil-A for dinner. Ellie gobbled up chicken nuggets!
Then, we took little Miss outside and introduced her to football. Actually....Andrew got a frisbee stuck in the tree and had to throw the football at it to knock it down. We didn't plan to play football! But, I am thankful he had to knock that frisbee out! She was cracking us up running around the yard with her football! She would throw it down and we would shout "Touch Down" then she would pick it up and say "Up?" So funny!

I LOVE her sweet face in this one, even though it's a little blurry!
It was a simple day of time spent as a family. We didn't do anything extraordinary or expensive. But the time we spent together was so precious. I really do want to remember it. All three of us were joyful simply because we were with each other.
I love my family.
